Here are my TOP 5 essential oils that we use daily in our household.

5 Must Have Essential Oils For Daily Use

I get asked all the time, “which oils should I use?”

My answer is always…”it depends.”

I’ve come to learn that everyone has a different relationship with their oils. For example, not everyone is going to love the same oils. There are some people who love the smell of lavender and some people who can’t stand it. Also, we all have different uses for our oils depending on what is going on in our life at the moment. Sometimes you want to use one based on your current mood, or sometimes you want to use an oil based on something you need help with, like stress, anxiety, or a medical condition.

But I can tell you that there are some common oils that I use every single day in my household.

The ones I’ve pictured above are all in roller bottles. This means they are pre-diluted with fractionated coconut oil which make them really easy to apply to myself and my kids (ALWAYS use an essential oil diluted with children.) I also use some of these oils “neat” (full potency) depending on what I’m using it for.

**Please note: avoid purchasing poor quality essential oils (i.e. from your local super market.) Avoid oils that say “fragrance oil” or “perfume oil” as these can be synthetic and don’t provide the desired health benefits. Instead, look for oils that say “pure essential oil” or “100% essential oil” for the highest quality essential oils. This is why I use doTERRA – they are certified pure therapeutic grade (CPTG.)

Frankincense

The KING of all oils! If I only had to choose one oil to use, frankincense would be it.

The word frankincense comes from the term “franc encens,” which means quality incense in old French. Frankincense has been associated with many different religions over the years, especially the Christian religion, as it was one of the first gifts given to Jesus by the wise men.

Here are some health benefits of frankincense:

  • helps reduce stress and anxiety
  • helps boost the immune system
  • can kill harmful germs and bacteria
  • prevents signs of aging
  • balances hormones
  • helps decrease inflammation

In our house, here is how I use it:

  • 1 drop under my tongue each morning. This is amazing for cellular health.
  • 1 drop in my moisturizer each morning. This helps prevent signs of aging on our skin.
  • Apply along my children’s spine before bed for all of the great health benefits listed above.

OnGuard

OnGuard contains a mix of sweet orange essential oil, rosemary, clove, cinnamon and eucalyptus. It smells divine and is a natural disinfectant. I use it in everything from homemade cleaning spray to avoiding illness but my favorite uses are:

  • On the soles of my feet and my children’s feet each morning and evening to support our immune system.
  • In homemade mouth wash to support a healthy mouth.
  • When cleaning (disinfects and smells great.)
  • Diffused for an air freshener.
  • As a gargle rinse for sore throats.
  • In my homemade hand sanitizer recipe.
  • In a capsule along with Oregano essential oil at the onset of cold or flu symptoms.

Lavender

I absolutely love the scent of lavender essential oil and diffuse it before I go to bed. It is said to help digestion, support skin health, stimulate hair growth, help mitigate the effects of stress and more.

Here are some other ways I use lavender:

  • I sometimes add a drop of lavender and lemon to bug bites or burns to cool the sting.
  • Use it with peppermint to calm a headache or sunburn.
  • Lavender essential oil is also an ingredient in many of my homemade beauty products.
  • I add a drop to my dryer balls to give my towels a nice scent.
  • I rub it on my wrists before bed for a calming effect.

ClaryCalm

Designed to provide a calming, soothing effect during the course of a woman’s menstrual cycle, ClaryCalm is known as a cooling essential oil blend when used topically, with a floral, yet herbaceous scent. Whether you need cooling effects for the skin, or help balancing your emotions, ClaryCalm is the perfect companion in times of discomfort and extra need.

Here’s how I use ClaryCalm:

  • Apply to my abdomen when I feel any cramping.
  • Help balance my emotions during PMS or any stressful time by rubbing it on my hands and smelling it.
  • Apply topically to my skin for a cooling, soothing effect.

You can read how it benefits women’s hormones in more detail HERE.

Peppermint

Pleasantly suitable for an abundance of oral and topical uses and antimicrobial properties, peppermint may be the most versatile essential oil in the world along with lavender. Literally, there are few body, health, and mind issues that it cannot help.

Here some ways I use peppermint in our household:

  • I use it on our feet or abdomen for nausea or upset stomach.
  • I use it on my neck or temples for headaches.
  • I rub some on my wrists and temples before a workout.
  • I diffuse it in the air for an uplifting vibe.
